Chào buổi sáng, Montreal! (FYI, this morning’s greeting is Vietnamese.)

Today, expect general cloudiness and some showers beginning in the early afternoon — but don’t let this forecast dampen the fact that it’s Friday! Expect a high of 26 C with a mildly damp humidex of 32.

Then, there should be some showers in the evening, and it’s going to cool all the way down to 15 C.

So, what’s going on today?

• The new, all-female Ghostbusters movie opens in theatres, as does King Dave, a film by Quebec director Podz shot in a single take.
• Swiss International Air Lines begins regular service using its new Bombardier CS100 aircraft.
• The Alouettes return from their bye week and play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Molson Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
• Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros perform at Metropolis.
• Dollar watch: At 7 a.m., the Canadian dollar was worth 77.64 cents U.S.
Did you know: on this day in 1988, Die Hard was released in the U.S. (Bring this up when people try to argue that it’s a Christmas movie.)

Quote of the Day

I don’t even talk about whether or not racial profiling is legal. I just don’t think racial profiling is a particularly good law enforcement tool. – Former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder
